Ahh Facebook, the giant that continues to dominate online communication. It’s hard to argue points as to what is wrong with Facebook because I consider it the best way to keep in contact with loved ones online today. One of my biggest critiques however is that there is so much going on that you can get lost with all the noise. You’ve got ads that are displayed on your feed based on what your friends like, trending topics, new friend suggestions, status updates by close friends, notifications on posts in a thread you are participating in, suggested posts, and of course those game invites that I am sure everyone loves. I think the question ultimately is, what is Facebook to you? It’s a different answer for everyone. Some use it to meet new people, others use it to connect with family, others use it as a large photo album they broadcast to the world and there are some who follow celebrities on there. It is a great tool for the majority, but I still don’t think it’s a great tool to meet new people because of all the other variables surrounding the communication. Privacy concerns are also something that many members worry about today.
Tension is almost inevitable upon meeting someone for the first time. It’s exciting and the unknown of where things can go or how quickly it can escalate is refreshing every time it happens. There are no rules here, there is no set number of days on what action to take…it all just happens naturally. I think the fixation on numbers and check boxes in social networking apps leaves the possibility of missing out on meeting someone awesome for you. Tension is necessary and not all information should be available immediately. More on this when I get closer to launch.
I just recently completed my iOS course over at One Month, Alfie is a great instructor and I recommend anyone looking to get a grasp on swift to check it out. I would like to thank Alfie and the One Month team for providing this easy course at an affordable price. I will be looking at the other offerings from the team in the coming months.
The weather is finally starting to warm up around here and started thinking about summer memories. One of the things that stood out is how a simple song can mean so much to an individual. “Never”, by Phonat is one of those songs for me. It is a very simple song with minimal lyrics, it’s great at capturing the summer feeling without saying much. I became aware of this song because it is featured in the Fast and Furious expansion pack for Forza Horizon 2 on the XBOX One. More nuggets soon.
